January 2013 Happy New Year!!
Wow another year has gone and a new one has begun. It all happened so fast. I haven’t yet managed to work out why the years get shorter as we get older perhaps we are trying to cram so much into our days.
I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and are well underway focusing on the New Year 2013 and achievements to be made. I know I wanted to create a piano card for the opening of the 2013 year, It reminds me of the times when people would gather together and on the stroke of midnight sing that beautiful song Auld Lang Syne. Not a happening these days for me though – I am blissfully sleeping on the stroke of midnight.
I have seen images of cards made with cardstock and realised the black keys were made with an extra piece of cardstock – I didn’t want to do that – I thought I could versamark the black keys with black embossing powder but wasn’t sure how the versamark portion would bend, I was worried it might crack so never tried it. I pondered day and night and suddenly came up with the idea of creating the keys using the computer. Which is what I did by filling the smaller keys in black and leaving the larger keys unflled I set about creatingmany to get the size I wanted – printed it out and started cutting with a craft knife. The most tricky part was bending the keys the right way to get the 3D effect I wanted. As you can see above – it worked.
The base of the card was made from the Natural composition Specialty Designer paper, this is a heavyweight Natural paper with backgrounds that look like they have been versamarked. The beauty of this is that all the hard work has been done for you.
Stamps include the following: Perfectly Penned for the sentiment on the front, Happy Hour for the wineglasses, Memorable Moments and the Music Note were Wheeled from the Music Notes wheel. If you would like to know how I made this card please feel free to contact me – bev@localhost/crap. Happy New Year.
