Playing with Blendabilities on World Card Making Day

I created the whole weekend – partly for world card making day but mostly because I have so much happening, swaps to create, classes to prep for and so much more. A few weeks ago we had our Stampin Up party event … it was a fabulous day with a showcase of all the new goodies in our Holiday catalogue.  Using the Blendabilities and the gift box punch board were my wowsers for the day. Sophie from head office in Sydney shows a fabulous technique creating a gingham/plaid look to your cards using Blendabilities and the colour lifter

gingham card  For this effect I used Stampin up Note cards and the Night of Navy set of Blendabilities. I drew lines randomly using all three shades and for some reason I left a gap in the middle …. That’s the interesting part of being creative .. sometimes you have no idea what you are going to create but you just do and then ideas just flow from there.

How did I get the white horizontal lines on the card.. I used the colour lifter, this fantastic tool can be used to move colour or lighten the shades even more to create a softer tone. For this card I just moved the colour lifter back and forth until I got the desired effect.

I had no idea what I was going to put in the middle so I went to my library of stamps and pondered … then it hit me the stamp I used is from Amazing Birthday  and it  fits just perfect in the middle of my gingham patch. I stamped it in Not Quite Navy and placed it on the white space. Perfect fit and even though it is off centre it fits with the randomly placed lines.
